Phantom Loading is a specialized method used to test energy meters without actual power consumption. By connecting a phantom load, the energy meter’s accuracy can be evaluated effectively. The load appears connected, but there is no actual load present.
Energy meters have two coils: a voltage coil and a current coil. During testing, the pressure coil connects to a voltage equal to the load voltage or rated value of the energy meter. It operates with minimal energy consumption. The current coil is supplied with the required load current at a low voltage. This ensures accurate testing without loading the meter.
